A domain allows the administrator(s) to create and manage accounts via the Wisc Account Administration site.Departments can request a domain (e.g., in Microsoft 365.All UW–‍Madison students, faculty and staff are automatically provided with a email account and can optionally set a email address.Departments with accounts in the domain will not have the ability to manage accounts via the Wisc Account Administration site.Departments who need few accounts can request accounts in the domain.Departments must maintain at least 10 accounts to qualify for a domain.Individuals must have a UW–‍Madison NetID and be eligible for email.In addition to email and calendaring features, Microsoft 365 provides multiple online applications such as OneDrive, the Office Suite and additional productivity tools. You can try again in 15-30 minutes when the record has had time to update.Microsoft 365, formerly Office 365, is a suite of web-based tools hosted by Microsoft. It can take a little while before Office 365 can find the record to verify your domain, so don’t worry if it doesn’t find it right away. When you click this button, Office 365 will check your domain to see if it has been verified.Back in the Office 365 Admin screen, you’ll see a button that says Verify.Return to your Office 365 account to complete the final steps.

These records allow you to send and receive emails with your domain.

You’ll also notice several new DNS records added to your domain automatically. Then, add the TXT value you copied earlier into the text field and click the Set up Office 365 button:Ī green verification message will appear at the top of the screen to confirm the records were created.Here you’ll see some buttons for setting up different email services. If the TXT record is grayed out, you can enable it by clicking the three dots to the right of the record and click Enable.On the DNS Records screen, there will be a TXT record that says _domainconnect.In your dashboard, go to Upgrades → Domains and click on the domain you’d like to use with Office 365.The TXT value looks something like MS=ms12345678.

Log into your Microsoft 365 admin center and go to Show All → Settings → Domains and copy the TXT record provided.

These steps will also automatically add the necessary MX and CNAME records to your domain so your Office 365 email will work with your -hosted domain. Use the following steps to verify your domain with a custom TXT record.
